Kia ora NZAIMS members,

An NZAIMS representative is on the advisory group for an online tool that is being developed by NZCER on behalf of the Ministry of Education to provide schools and Communities of Learning  Kāhui Ako with information that can be used formatively in review and planning.

We are hoping your school would be interested in taking part in the trial of the tools in March.

The tool gives schools and CoL robust information about their teaching practices, school processes and leadership capability, that can be used to focus ongoing improvement and the development of inquiry and evaluative capabilities.

Aggregate data that does not identify individuals, schools or CoL will also give the Ministry a national overview to see what school strengths and needs are, and the impact of policies like the CoL.

The Advisory Group has been working with NZCER to identify the domains and questions to include in the tool. The items are based on existing evidence about effective practice that leads to positive outcomes for students.

The tool is designed to be short (around 25 minutes per person) and principals will receive a report giving the combined responses of teachers and the principal.

To access it you will be sent a link to an online survey.

If you are keen to take part in the trial or would like to discuss anything about the tool please contact Cathy Wylie on [email protected], or  04 802 1444
